E. Everett Evans: Stories

The ability to read minds isn't an unmixed blessing, so learns George Hanlon, Secret Operative of the Inter-Stellar Corps. His unique gift helps him with his assignments, of course -- except that he has a lot of trouble with alien minds. He encounters a whole planet full of alien minds on Estrella when the semi-human inhabitants of this Earth-like world of another sun decide that they want nothing to do with the Federation Planets.

Somewhere, somehow, the first moves have been made--the pattern is beginning to emerge. Someone--or something--is on the way to supreme power over all the planets held by Man. And the Inter-stellar Corps is helpless to meet the threat--no normal man can hope to penetrate the conspiracy. But--the Corps has a man who isn't normal, a man with a very strange weapon... ..._his mind_.

The Masters had ruled all space with an unconquerable iron fist. But the Masters were gone. And this new, young race who came now to take their place--could they hope to defeat the ancient Enemy of All?

Space pioneer Tad Carver has brought his family on an expedition to look for new planets suitable for colonization. When Tad is badly hurt, his sons and wife must continue with the mission.
