Chapter 18

The leader and several of the council members smirked at her. “You’ve been further under a rock than we thought,” Victoria said with a glint of humor in her eyes. “A great many things have happened since you disappeared.”

“Happened? From what I am seeing, more than a great many things have happened. what,” Audgra had started when her mouth dropped open. “What are you doing here, bane of the Jinn world?”

Tawney smiled as she closed her hand and Audgra started to scream at the top of her voice.

Victoria walked to within a foot of her screaming sister, reached back and slapped the woman as hard as she could.

A vicious smile crossed her lips, “That was for nearly killing me and the family. He has started to remember, he knows what you tried to do to the both of them. Though I think it’s the council you should fear right now.”

Audgra gagged, then started to laugh, “You think that I am not prepared?”

Victoria smiled all through her tirade while watching behind Audgra. Behind Audgra, several flashes appeared: a male and seven females, then another flash, a female and two males appeared.

Audgra started to wave her hand with a huge smile, then gasped. “What have you done?” She growled, then stopped when she heard the chanting. Turning quickly, she gasped again, “Why are the royal family here,” she growled.

“You might say that his Jinn and mine are connected, therefore my concern,” the human male said. “Plus, the royal family is also linked to me, through princess Amira.”

“Just who in the hell are you that you have such Jinn support,” Audgra spit.

“Oh, sorry let me introduce myself, I am called Jake, the ever-last master,” Jake said as Audgra’s eyes went huge.

“No! The second prophecy appears to be true,” she said almost in a whisper, then she smirked. “Even so, you can not hold me!” With that, a blinding flash appeared with Audgra screaming as she vanished.

Well, she did for a moment, then suddenly reappeared. “You should know that concerning you and your curses”? Amira said with a slight smile. “Compared to my mother you are really nothing!”

Again Audgra screamed as Jake and all the Jinns with him, make slashing motions across his and their throats. For a moment, nothing happened as Audgra’s eyes suddenly grew large.

“NO! You can’t remove them, I will die!” Audgra said as she struggled even harder.

Jake walked up to Victoria and Audgra, Jake stayed Victoria’s hand. “What she is now, I believe, is a far more sufficient punishment.”

Audgra looked at Jake and her sister as she started to laugh. “You have done nothing, I will return and destroy all of you.”

Jake just sadly shook his head as Audgra laughed again, then waved her hand. Realization suddenly dawned on her face as nothing happened.

Behind him the great Jinn appeared with his arms crossed on his chest. The Great Jinn’s voice boomed out, “Audgra, you have been judged and have been found to be greatly lacking.”

Great fear crossed her face as she fell to the feet of the great Jinn begging. The great Jinn waved a hand over her as an ornate bottle appeared.

“By my command you are sentenced to spend a few millieum within this prison,” the great Jinn said. Waving a hand, Audgra screamed as she was vacuumed into the bottle.

“Master Jake,” the great Jinn said to him and his Jinns. “Again, you have served the Jinn dimension, ask and what you wish will be granted.”

Jake shook his head, “I have all that I require. The love of many Jinns, the restoration of all three cities. Plus, I am a father many times over, though I ask, can she not be saved, as she was once loved.”

The great Jinn thought for a few minutes, then nodded. “It will take a great many years, but it is possible.”

“I also wish to continue to help John Richards. The evil he is facing is of the same caliber as the Queen was,” Jake said.

The Great Jinn had a stern look on his face, then suddenly grinned. “I was hoping that you would wish to continue, granted. Just remain out of sight.”

Jake nodded as all his Jinns and the royals disappeared.

Catherine, Cythina and I sat on the front porch for at least an hour. There was movement coming from the barn. We could see that Charles was walking fairly determined back toward us.

It appeared that he and Afee hadn’t finished as she still had an almost furious look on her face. Charles! What is your problem!” Afee was yelling.

Charles, with a fierce look on his face, whirled as he faced her. “My problem! It wasn’t me that said she hated it here. That said she was going to leave as soon as they got their powers back. That she wanted nothing to do with me.”

“But Charles I...” Afee started.

“But nothing, I am a farmer, a simple man. I love the land. I love it here and damnit I love you!” A frustrated Charles said as he walked away from a stunned, speechless Afee.

“I ... but ... I didn’t,” Afee sputtered as she stood there in shock. She then turned toward me.

I put up my hands and shook my head no, “don’t ask me I’m worse than you.”

“You are related surely,” she started.

Again, I put up my hands, “that doesn’t mean that much when it comes to me,” I said.

This time Afee was staring at me with an odd look. She glowed for a moment, then shook her head.

“I can see that the both of you are much the same,” she said.

“The same I really don’t see how,” I said.

She looked at both Catherine and Cythina with a knowing look. “It appears that you are as undecided as Charles is.”

I shook my head, “undecided, huh? What of you? You should have known better, but you seem to have been blinded as you seem to be accusing me.”

“I was not,” Afee started, then hung her head. “I found that, I could not believe that I was wanted by him. No one has ever expressed a desire like he has.”

I put an arm around her shoulders, “I think that you will find that this family has more than desire.”

She had a strange look in her eyes as her hands came up, but I grabbed them. “I think that we need the mystery to continue. The less you know, the better don’t you think?”

This time, a look of recognition appeared on her face. “You have actually seen the great Jinn, been in his presence. Thank you, it would have been the end of me. Now I just have to convince Charles.”

I smiled as I gave her a hug, “I don’t think that will be as hard as you think. Go to him, he is hurting for you.”

Afee grinned largely, then took off toward the house.

I looked over to Catherine and Cythina, “I think it’s time to go. First, I think we need a bead on where she went.”

Both my Jinns looked at me, then nodded. They then started to turn around searching.

A few moments later they both stopped. “I feel like she has gone back at least a hundred years,” Catherine said. “OH! I feel that she was injured.”

They were quiet for a moment, then Cythina’s eyes opened wide, “she has moved again. I feel she’s falling further back.”

This made me worried the longer we had contact, the more power she had. We had connected again for longer than before.

Now I was afraid that she had moved further back than I had at first thought. I sighed as I waited for them to finish.

“We should be able to find her, even if she has moved further back. The only bad point is that it appears that Hajib is also further back in time,” Catherine said.

I nodded as we were about to move out when Charles walked out of the house. “I take it you are going to leave?” I nodded as he continued. “I think that it’s time that I let this go then. With Afee now returned to normal? I won’t need it any longer.”

My mouth opened in shock as he handed me a stone that I knew very well. It hid the family from any magic users that wished us harm.

I nodded to him as Afee, who came out a moment later. She wiped her eyes with a huge smile on her face. I nodded to her also as we vanished.

Afee and Charles embraced, then both had a look of shock on their faces as strange thoughts hit them. “By the great Jinn, Charles! That was one of the greatest masters in history, umm, just like his ancestor,” Afee said, a look of lust in her eyes.

Charles turned to see that she was indeed hot for him. “Hell woman, we need to get in the house!” he said as she giggled, and they ran for the house.

I watched as the years fell away as we were going further back. “We’re nearing where she was,” Cythina said.

We dropped out of the waves of energy landing near a battle. Luckily, we were unseen by the forces that were fighting.

My mouth dropped open as I saw what appeared to be redcoats, as they were called. I looked at Catherine and Cythina, were we in the 1700’s?”

They both felt around, then turned to me and nodded. “It appears to be around 1775 or so,” Catherine said, with Cythina nodding her agreement.

“You said that she left not long ago, can you still feel her?” I asked Cythina.

She concentrated, then a look of confusion appeared on her features. “I can feel her though she has gone further back than I thought she would.”

“Just how far are we talking?” I asked.

Cythina concentrated again, then said,” It appears somewhere around two thousand years. It is hard to pinpoint her right now. It feels like there is a lot of interference.”

Both of my Jinns looked at each other, “the Kemet empire?” Cythina said.

“I believe so,” Catherine said as she looked away. “It appears that your sister is being drawn to significant areas of time.”

I shook my head as I thought about it. We had been involved in the last major Jinn and mage war. Then a thought came to me as a grimace came to my face.
