Chapter 6
“Alright, please get up. I feel bad with you there and me up here,” Dan said. That’s when he noticed that all four of them were staring at his crotch. Damn it, they didn’t have time for that!
Dan sighed, then motioned for them to follow as they left the area. For the moment, Dan really didn’t trust what he might say, especially after their looks at him.
They were out of sight of the cave when two more trolls walked nearby. Seeing the mangled body, they sat to start eating.
They were a great distance away when Dan decided that the silence was getting to him. The four females stared at Dan when he suddenly stopped, with his hands on his hips.
“Alright, I’m not going to spend the rest of my time here with the silent treatment. What the hell is going on?” Dan said, a little more forceful than he meant. The female’s cringing caused him to stare.
“Well lord,” Ella started, then stopped when Dan held up a hand to all of them.
“I’d rather be who I feel I am, I am Dan, your friend,” here turned to the elves. I know I saved you and I helped you. I do not feel like a lord, therefore, I am your friend and I want to remain that way. I have enough treating me like I don’t belong here, I need friends.”
All the females nodded as they started to bow again. This Dan stopped immediately, he was a friend, not a ruler.
“Alright, I am feeling a compelling pull toward something. I believe that it is why I am here. I want to grow stronger before we get there. I also wish to learn why I have all four of your powers,” Dan said.
Both Elves looked at each other for a moment as Tygan’s eyebrows raised. “It might be that you are on your way to becoming an Archmage, a very rare and powerful one.”
En’tra’s eyes went wide as she said, “You believe he is a generator?”
“It is possible, though my power has increased, I still haven’t enough to test him,” Tygan said.
The other three females were staring at Dan and Tygan. Even the two from earth had heard of a generator.
“A generator? Please excuse me for being stupid, but what the hell is that?” A now upset Dan said. It was one thing to be ignored but another to be ignored and talked about.
“I’m sorry lor, uh, Dan,” Tygan started. “A generator is a being that is capable of using all aspects of magic. As of right now, you have four, making you a strong mage. Five elevates you to a powerful mage. Half having six, well I have only heard of about twelve, after that? It drops substantially.”
“So, what? I’m powerful or strong? The thing is that I didn’t have any before I came here. Did I develop late or what I don’t know,” a confused Dan said.
“Well,” Tygan started. “If you are a generator, then you gain power of another aspect when it is used on you. After that, you can grow rather quickly when you use them.”
Dan thought a moment, then nodded, so far all that she had said had happened. “This can be dangerous though, can’t it? I mean, if they are trying to kill me, I might be in trouble, right?”
“Dan, you are a lot stronger than you think. Remember when we tried to kill you? You are probably as strong as others. I mean you have the fourth spell of each aspect now. I don’t, and I’ve been trying for years. You did it in what two days? Yeah, you’re powerful,” Ella said.
Dan cringed a bit, as did Ella and Bell when she mentioned the killing part. She was about to say more when she felt rather than saw something large heading their way.
The moment he stopped, all of his companions stopped. Then they also started to feel what was heading their way. It then started to break up into several somethings. Dan was casting Shadow Shield when ten or so female black-winged bodies approached above where they were.
For a few moments, they circled where they all were, then landed not far away. “I’m telling you, I felt a powerful force near here. I am already feeling light and dark elves. Eh! I am feeling, witches also, the bitches are invading I know it! Go back and prepare the clan for a magical war,” the obvious leader said.
What the hell are they, Dan thought. They’re kind of beautiful.
Their Harpies, spiteful, hateful creatures, En’tra thought to him. They are beautiful but that’s part of their allure.
“Aha!” The leader said as she reached out and grabbed Bell, who screamed a high-pitched keening sound. “Now you bitch, I will teach you to invade our home!”
Dan upset himself, reached out and ripped Bell out of the grasp of the Harpie female.
“I don’t think so!” Dan growled as he put Bell behind him. “Bring it, no one hurts my friend!” With that, Dan released Water Wave, throwing the Harpie back several feet.
The Harpie growled as she sent a blast of air at Dan that nearly knocked him off his feet. Dan sent a flame at her that nearly singed her feathers.
“You will pay for th,” the Harpie started, then stopped in shock, staring at Dan. “No! A human is it really that time?” She then looked Dan over closer, seeing the sword at his back.
She immediately dropped to her knees, trembling. Dan sighed, “Please get up. I hate talking to the ground.”
Dan didn’t really mind that much as he could see down the front of the well-endowed female’s top cover. All the others noticed too, as parts of Dan started to grow bigger.
He turned away, which let the other four see, making him turn more red colored.
“Lord, I can have the clan ready to battle at a moment’s notice. All we need is word from you,” the still bowing Harpie said.
“Please rise, as I said, I want to talk to you, not the ground,” Dan said. He then watched the Harpie rise slowly, her head still bowed.
“My lord,” she said still trembling.
“First off, I am called Dan. I’d appreciate it if you used my name. Second,” Dan started.
“Lord I can not, it is respect,” the Harpie said.
“Well then respect the fact that I want to use my name, not Lord,” Dan said.
“I will try lor, uh, Dan,” the still trembling Harpie said.
Dan sighed, sometimes he hated his life, really hated his life.
“Now as for alerting your clan, I think not, right now. I am still figuring out just what I am doing here,” Dan said.
He watched as the Harpie nodded, then got a message: you have gained Air aspect,
Air Blast
Air Razor
Tornado
Dan just shook his head as the information came up. “Huh,” he said. “Apparently I have gained Air aspect, air blast, air razor, and tornado,” Dan said, which caused the Harpies’ eyes to grow wide.
“Sir, sorry, Dan, you have all my spells?” the Harpie said.
“Dan turned to look at her, nodded, then said, “Apparently I have. I now have five aspects, as you call them.”
Tygan nodded as her eyes went wide. “Uh Dan, I can almost see all that you have. My power has grown again.”
Dan nodded and turned toward the others. They were all looking over their stats, all their eyes indicating that theirs had grown also. All four of them could only stare at him, none of them had used their powers, how?
Dan smiled as he thought he was starting to get a handle on what was happening.
“I think I see some of it. I have the aspect, but I have to use it before it is useable. Please step back a minute,” Dan said as he concentrated.
A weak blast of air came from him. He tried it a few times before it blew with any force. Next, he tried to make a razor, it was hardly there. It took even longer before he had three sharp blades of air.
The next he looked at the Harpie, almost afraid to use it. “I am almost afraid to use the next, where is your clan? I don’t want to injure any of them. By the way, what are you called? I hate to say hey you, all the time.”
The Harpie stared at Dan for a moment, blushing, “Sir, I am called Shae’ten. I am a third clan assistant. I am like many of my clan pledged to assist the returning human mage.”
“So this is a prophecy about me and your clan?” Dan asked.
Shae’ten shook her head, “No sir, that is only part of it.” Tears started to fall from her eyes. “I have never been anything special, nor did I think that I would be the one to help the ... you.”
Dan’s eyes were wide as Shae’ten blushed a deep crimson. Dan could only shake his head, he wasn’t special. Hell, if he really thought about it, you might call him a geek, maybe a nerd, but not special.
“Shae’ten, my entire life I have felt that. I was also as you feel you are. I am finding that we may feel that we are, but we are truly something more,” Dan said lowly. He then said, “So, if we go to where your clan is, would we be welcome or would I have to injure a few?”
“If you hold the sword of power before you. When we enter the clan village, I believe it will convince most of them. The rest I am afraid that you will have to injure,” Shae’ten said.
Dan sighed but nodded his head, it seemed there were always those that didn’t believe what they could see. It was then that realized that no matter where you went, there always seemed to be those that were like that.
Shae’ten offered to carry him there, he declined as there were those that wouldn’t be able to be carried. They all kept going at a good clip ‘til they came to a cliff area with caves high up.
There was a sudden commotion as there came the screams of many females. A great number of young Harpies headed toward them, in attack formation.
A young Harpie landed in front of them, pointing an accusing wing at Shae’ten. “Why have you brought enemies to the clan home? You must have lost your will, fear not, we will dispense them and cure you.”
A moment later an angry Dan pointed at the young speaker and blew her back several feet. She came to a stop with a shocked, then angry look on her face.
“How you dare copy her power! We do not allow shapeshifters here! Leave before you are seriously hurt, the rest are our prisoners,” the young Harpie sneered.
Dan looked at Shae’ten, “I am sorry I didn’t want to use it near your home. I’m not sure that I can control it.”
Dan pointed at the sneering then laughing young Harpie ‘til a dust devil appeared. This caused the younger Harpie to laugh harder, then the devil suddenly became a full tornado.
Almost too late, the younger Harpie flew back. Dan was sweating as he held the tornado at one point in front of her. “I do not want to destroy this place but if you continue as you have, I may have to.”
The younger Harpie sat there watching the tornado waver back and forth but not advance. When she started to smirk, Dan pushed the tornado and enveloped her. A few screams later, she dropped out disheveled in a crumpled pile.
“Now, can I expect more of the same or should I release all control of it?” Dan growled.
“Such control, I...” the younger Harpie started.
