Chapter 11
I tapped the tall man on the shoulder after moving another few miles further away. “Tsk, Tsk, Tsk, losing such expensive equipment, dear, dear, cost the government a bundle. Then to lose so many teams and what did you call teams, slaves? Ah, assests that was it, bye!”
The tall man shouted for them to see if they had found me. “Oh my god!” A tech said. “They are here! No wait, they are even further away now.”
The second Ultimate left the bunker faster than anyone could see. I felt him approaching rapidly, ready for him.
I had, had plenty of time to study him from his appearance before.
I laughed as I started to move further and further away ‘til we had crossed several states west. I had already felt the arrival of the third Ultimate getting a passing reading on him.
I watched as the second male stopped not far from me feeling the ball of energy that I had lured him there with. With a snarl, he passed his hands before him searching for me. I vanished to a point after the areas he’d scanned.
I finally brought my hands before me side to side. I saw that for a moment he seemed to have felt something, then shook his head. “Where are you bastard!” he yelled.
I appeared behind him and slapped his head as hard as I could, knocking him onto the ground. “Looking for someone?” I said, then sneered when he finally saw me.
It was that moment that I realized that he was powered up all the way. “So it is a bitch, ha, easy to crush.”
I almost lost it at how weak he felt. His look of indignation caused me to laugh harder. “Oh, I needed a good laugh,” I said to him.
This had him starting to grow angrier, then a shocked look came to his features. “By all that’s holy, you’re blind!”
I smirked at him and sarcastically said, “No shit Captain obvious!”
This I could see wasn’t sitting well with him, then I felt his mental power bristle. He then fired a powerful energy blast at me, which fizzled as soon as it hit my shield.
The fact that his mouth dropped open caused renewed laughter from me. He immediately stopped moving and started to beg. “Please, I am a father, I don’t want to die.”
I, still smirking, could tell that he was lying through his teeth. “Tell you what,” I started, then blew his arms off. “If you had told me the truth I might have spared you,” I then caused his pain receptors to fire twice as much.
I had to wait for his screaming to abate before I started to rip all I could from his mind. I could see that he and the last thug they had sent after me were new.
I just shook my head, then his head lopped off his body. I just shook my head, if they were all this easy, then why was I worried?
It was at that moment that I felt the third from earlier quickly approaching our position. Remembering what I had heard earlier, I incinerated the male’s head.
I then winked out appearing a great distance away. The rapidly approaching third male stopped shaking his head at what he saw.
He then tried to move to the slain man, stopping as if he’d hit a wall. He tried to push and was immediately rebuffed hard to the ground on his ass.
This one had a degree more power than the first two. I narrowed my eyes as I saw what was happening. They were sending the weaker members to feel me out.
OK, I thought though with me? Not all that great as I was constantly growing. I had examined the third member and had seen that this one was far more cautious.
Whereas the first two were new, this one had been with them for a few years. Hmmm I thought, so this one was going to be a bit harder.
The third tried for an hour as I felt his power growing higher and higher. When he was as high as I felt he could go, I let go. This caused him to land face first, pissing him off more.
I watched as he gathered his slain comrade, then rocketed off, toward their command bunker as I called it. I smirked at what the male would have thought, had he known that I had watched all of it nearby.
I reached out, seeing the third member of the Ultimates land and enter the bunker. I shook my head as I still couldn’t believe that they had no idea I was watching.
The tall man was shocked when the third member laid what was left of the second member on a table. “This untrained wild user is not what you think they are. They are most definitely trained, and it feels a lot like military training and tactics.”
This caused the tall man’s head to snap up, “Military!? Shit, this changes things a hell of a lot. I’ll have to contact the council before we can proceed further.”
The third member nodded as he also pulled out a phone and walked away. “Commander, we have a problem,” he started, then listened.
The tall man was on the phone with the leader of the council. “Sir,” the tall man started. “We have lost the first two Ultimates with no idea of who it is yet.”
“This is not as disturbing as you may think. It is when there are four gone that we start to worry. Also, you may not know, but we have lost half the council to this user,” the leader said.
“The third Ultimate seems to think that the user is using military tactics. They also believe that they are military trained. If these things are true, then we may have a very distressing problem,” the tall man said.
This news seemed to wake the council leader up. “Advise all the Ultimates of these revelations. We need to change all our own tactics as of now. For now, we are trying to add a new fourth. With our power halved, I am having to go almost full.” With that, the council leader clicked off.
The tall man shuddered a bit as he thought of not having the council as back up. I was about to laugh my ass off as I listened to both conversations.
I could only shake my head, military tactics and training? Had they all lost their minds? Then I thought about it, then nodded, yeah, I think that they might have.
I had given them an out several times to no avail as they kept thinking I was nothing. Now I thought that they were going to start getting serious.
This, of course, pissed me off like never before as I reached out and snapped the neck of the third member. Then I started through the entire bunker, breaking arms and legs. I then started to fog the minds of over half of the scientists that were there.
I was surprised when the tall man was, for a moment, difficult to reach. Though when I did, it went a lot worse for him as a lot of my cooled anger resurfaced.
It was almost a day later that several replacement guards found all in the bunker incapacitated. The next few hours were a flurry of activity. When the third Ultimate was found dead, it sent a wave of fear through the base and bunker.
The tall man tried to remain in charge though they took him out also. I smiled as I started back on eliminating his replacements. There were only fifteen of them left as I started to go through them rapidly.
I realized I had started in general when the fifteenth took over after I had the first ten gone. I had all of them eliminated through killers and thugs.
It was the next day that he had taken control, that the fourth Ultimate arrived. A truly brusque, tall, at six and a half feet well-muscled male sneered at the tall man’s replacement.
“Little man,” the fourth Ultimate said, sneering down at him, “I don’t know you, neither do I want to. I have orders, and they don’t include you.” Here the fourth Ultimate lifted the man without touching him. “Do not assume that you command me. I have only one that I obey and you,” here he sneered again at the man, “are not him.”
He dropped the replacement man like a piece of trash that was beneath him. He then pushed several of the replacement guards out of the way as he made his way to the body of the third Ultimate.
He then dialed a number on his cell. “Speak,” the gruff deep voice said.
“I am here. It appears he was terminated without a fight, this was a very powerful entity. We may lose most of the team if this continues,” the fourth Ultimate said.
“Show me,” the gruff voice said as the fourth turned the screen to the body. “This is unacceptable, to die without honor. This user is becoming a problem fast. Kill them, record everything so that we can never again lose members.”
“Yes leader,” the fourth said as the line went dead. The fourth turned, sneering at those around him. “The penalty for repeating a single phrase or anything that was said is death. I have seen all of you, so I will destroy all of you, especially you,” he said, poking a finger in the chest of the replacement of the tall man.
With that, the fourth departed faster than anyone could see. He was on a mission to kill me with extreme prejudice, a fact that I knew that all of them would be after.
The fourth had a slightly different power and, from what I felt, was far smarter than the first three. As I sat watching him start to hunt for me, I mulled things over in my mind.
I knew I was going to have to kill him and probably the rest of them. First I thought, then I moved to the bunker and crushed the mind of the fifteenth man in line.
I was still wondering how he had gotten the position, when I felt the eleventh. A few minutes later, a family member had ended them.
That left two, though at the moment I had a far bigger problem. About six and a half feet, bulging muscles, a lot better IQ and a lot of anger. This one I was going to have to be careful of.
His power level was still low compared to mine, but, he was still, as I had called them, a mad dog killer. I had watched him approach where I had been when I killed the tall man’s replacement.
There were still two left though, they were nowhere as bad as the others that were dead now. I guess I was lost in thought as the fourth Ultimate appeared not far from where I was.
