Chapter 12

I was afraid that dad would wake up, so I walked outside, reveling in the feeling of freedom. Well, as much as I had, no matter how fleeting.

I almost giggled again as I felt the frustration of the fifth amping up even more. I could barely feel his emotions as he was starting to think I had died.

I shook my head no, as soon as dad and I had a plan, I was going to take the fifth. This one had been with the others for a long time. He was the first that had replaced the five that had died.

It appeared that the five before him had been a part of the original ten. It was kind of shocking that they were still at it after so long.

I shook my head as I thought that the ones after the fifth, were going to be powerful as hell. Another thing I was thinking about, they had been at it a long time. That would make them far smarter than the first four slugs that they had sent after me.

Dad woke up as it was starting to get dark, amazed when he saw that I had taken care of the fire. “I thought you were blind,” he said.

I sighed, “Mostly, I am dad, though I can see colors and feel everything that is around me. I know you have a green shirt on and grey slacks.” I smiled as he dropped with a thump.

“But, I thought that you were completely blind. I didn’t know you couldn’t see a bit still,” Dad said, still in shock.

“Uh no Dad, I am completely blind. These two things,” here I pointed towards my eyes. “They don’t work at all. I am blind as in nothing,” I said.

“You just described what I have on how in the hell?” he said hesitantly.

“I can sense it. I can’t actually see anything. So, I am blind basically,” I told him.

Dad just shook his head. I guess he hadn’t really been listening when I first told him. It was a surprise when he suddenly wrapped me in his arms and held me close.

“I’m so sorry baby girl, I was so stressed about your mom and the accident. I ... I should have been there more for you,” he said as he hung his head.

“I know dad, I just can’t believe that mom did that to you. I also know that it was the care that I needed that was why she left,” I said.

“No baby girl, it wasn’t you as much as it was me. She thought that I should have stayed home more to care for you. She said that she couldn’t do it all. I think she wanted an excuse to leave. God knows she had hinted at it for the last few years,” Dad said with a shake of his head.

I could see that this was weighing heavily on him. “For now, dad, we just need to figure a way out of this. You’d think that after all this? That they would finally give up.”

Dad sighed and shook his head, “To them, you are a weapon that they can use ‘til you die. I will be damned if I will let that happen. I have a lot more knowledge on this than most people,” Dad said with a look of determination on his face.

It was at that moment that I knew that all that had happened before, was a warm-up. I knew dad had been in a lot of black ops, but I feel I was about to know more.

“You need to find out everything that you can about each one of them so we can plan. This next one is the first replacement that they had, so he’s not as good as the rest. When you defeat him, you need to get everything that you can from him before he dies,” Dad said with a grim look on his face.

We sat there for several hours planning what to do, in different situations. I also worked on delving deeper into the human mind, not as easily as I thought.

I knew that most of the Ultimates were truly dark evil asses. Dad kept trying to impress on me that they wouldn’t hesitate to kill me, among other things.

I realized that, yes, I had killed before, but I knew beforehand that they deserved it. I wasn’t as sure about these new killers that were after me.

I could still feel the fifth one that was searching for me. I could also feel the frustration that he had at not feeling me at all.

Dad was happy that he couldn’t, but was afraid that they might find us soon. So, for the second time, Dad said we needed to go back into the mountains.

I could barely remember the cabin Dad had taken me to not too long ago. “Can you move the both of us there?” he asked.

When I nodded he smiled as he started to touch spots on the walls and doorways. My mouth dropped open as hidden compartments dropped open with many high-powered weapons. Though the bazookas and rocket launchers were the biggest surprises.

It took several trips for us to get all of the weapons transferred. “Geez dad, been to weapons are us lately?” I said.

“Oh, sorry hun, this is only part of them. The rest are in the garage, not sure, we have enough time to grab all of them,” he said calmly.

My mouth dropped open as I looked at the huge pile of weapons on the floor of the cabin living room. Dad walked up and closed my mouth with a little chuckle. “I don’t understand,” I said.

My mouth fell open again as he touched a part of the wall, and it slid down, revealing a panel. A panel that had indicators for several weapon systems.

“What the hell dad, are you at war?” I asked him in shock.

A quirky smile came to his lips. “Always good to be prepared, baby girl.”

“Prepared? For what World War Three? You have enough here to outfit a small nation,” I almost shrieked.

Dad smiled as he shook his head, “No, if I had the rest then, maybe.”

“I take it you want me to get them also?” I asked him with a smirk.

“No, I’d have to go with you,” he said with his arms outspread.

I sighed as I touched his arm, and we appeared inside the garage. It was then that dad started to pull out a hell of a lot of ammo and automatics.

He also seemed to have control systems for a few things. One I saw, I could swear, was the launch control for a missile system.

“You realize that you can’t tell anyone,” Dad started.

I started to laugh, “Like, who in the hell is going to believe me? I am, after all, blind as can be, you know, destroyed retinas and corneas.”

I could sense the smile that came onto dad’s face. “Yeah, baby girl, I know, but there are some out there that won’t believe you are.”

I started to laugh again, “really had to fake the damage I have. Must be some real winners out there in the spy world after all. Like always, that world is full of brainless morons too, huh?”

This time it was dad who started to laugh, “Yeah, baby girl, there are. It’s hard to believe that these people are in charge.”

“Just think, the world is held hostage by people that are untrusting of the world as they are. It’s a miracle that they haven’t destroyed the world as it is,” I said.

I could sense that dad was smiling at those comments. “I am afraid that those out in the field are the ones who hold it all together.”

I could only shake my head at what dad had said. We managed to get a hell of a lot of the armory from the garage to the cabin.

For the rest of the day, me and dad discussed what little I knew of the fifth man. I feared that the rest that were going to come after me would use their minds a hell of a lot more.

We decided that we should take a day off to rest though the fifth man was hunting us a lot harder. Though being well rested would make a difference.

The next day, I appeared a few miles away from where the fifth man was. I felt him long before I saw him, having set a trap in case everything went south.

Just like the first four, the fifth appeared extremely full of himself. Though, the thing that pissed me off the most was when he started to laugh at me.

“A fucking girl? Please, here I thought I was dealing with a real powerhouse,” he was saying ‘til I blew both his arms off. “You fucking bitch! I’m going to enjoy fucking you up in every way I can.”

He then started to fire off a few blasts at me, though how, I didn’t know. I almost laughed as they barely tickled at all.

“Gee,” I smirked, looking at his incinerated arms on the ground. “That seems like a small threat. About like the equipment you have between your legs.” Then I really started to laugh at him.

“Shit,” he sneered at me. “You can’t handle all that I got, especially when the rest.” Here he stopped just now, realizing that he was no longer in contact with the base or the other Ultimates. “What have you done, you tiny bitch!”

“I cut you off from anyone, bet it feels like the rest of your life. Tsk Tsk, so small and pitiful,” I said as I started to laugh at him again.

He obviously thought that I hadn’t done this before cause he tried to rush me. Firing several high energy blasts at me.

Well, he tried ‘til he lost a leg and still tried to crawl towards me. The ass was still trying to kill me even after losing his arms.

“Oh dear,” I said as I shook my head at him. “You are really the old stereotype, all muscles and absolutely no brains at all. Perhaps I am doing the world a favor by killing you.”

It was at that point that I took his other leg, to the tune of him screaming bloody murder. “You might kill me, but they will get to you. I have my memories that you can’t.”

I shook my head at him, “Not really, when there are only ashes left,” I said. I then touched his head as he screamed even louder as I took what I could about the first five. He then screamed the loudest as I incinerated the rest of him.

It was at that moment I felt an even faster, higher power rapidly approaching. I vanished right before it arrived.

It was a male not as large as the first five, at almost twice the power. What I felt though was still lower than me but not much.
