Chapter 14

He then started to blast away at the whole area around him, almost as if he were insane now. I looked at dad and shrugged as I appeared behind him, hitting him with a half-powered blast.

I knew by his scream that it had hurt him more than I thought it would. Damn, I thought I was only at half power, had I grown that much?

He turned with a snarl as he started to fire at me. I was surprised when they were a little more powerful than they were the last time. Yeah, a little as they were nothing compared to my full power.

I sneered at him in the vision I had made before. “Such a weak little boy, I gave you a chance last time. There will not be a reprieve this time. So you want to live or die like a dog,” he interrupted me, firing even more blasts.

“Well,” I said. “Don’t say I didn’t give you a chance. Oh, that’s right,” I said as my eyes narrowed, “You’ll be dead,” he said.

I reached out and grabbed him with an energy hand, and pulled his struggling body to me. “You wouldn’t dare.”

I just shook my head as I made a slashing motion. He gagged as his head slipped effortlessly from his shoulders.

This time I just waited as I felt the female that was rushing toward us. She stopped a good thousand feet away from me.

I smiled, “Hello Kattra, where is Sasha?” I asked, reaching out. I broke both her arms, then floated to her. “They should have left me alone. Now? I have to kill all of you,” I looked into her eyes, “That includes you, Timon.” Then I vanished as I felt Sasha approaching.

Sasha looked at the devastated area, hearing the screams of her teammate. She pulled a phone and dialed the leader.

“It appears that the wild user is far more powerful than we thought. Both four and two are down, four is in fact dead. Do you wish me to return them? This appears to be the most coordinated attack to date,” she said.

Timon, the leader, was breathing hard as he’d gotten the message I had sent. “This has moved far beyond the realm that it was before. The wild user knows who we are, including our names,” he said.

Sasha jerked at this news, “Even yours leader? How is that possible? I will return two, then bring the body to you,” she replied.

“Be careful, this wild user appears to now have a good deal of training. Plus, from what I can feel, they are as strong as the both of you. We may have to use a two-prong attack,” Timon said.

“Sir,” Sasha replied, “You think they will attack me while I am in transit?” A new look appeared on her face that hadn’t been there in a long time, fear.

“I’m not sure number three, they have been honorable until today. It appears that they are far more angry than they were before,” he said.

“Understood leader, I am returning now,” she said as the communication was cut. I smiled as I watched her enfold the screaming woman and the body in two different nets.

Perfect, I thought as I pointed at the body, firing an energy bolt toward it. Even as it left me, I was vanishing back to the cabin.

As I appeared next to dad, I heard an anguished shouting from the screen before him. I smiled as I walked to him, knowing what was happening back where I had just left.

As I came behind him, I saw the anguish on Sasha’s face as the body of number four flared to ash. She had tried to stop it to no avail, then stopped to call.

“Your suspicions were right, she was watching me and I couldn’t detect her. I have lost number four as the body is now ash,” Sasha said.

A true look of worry on his face, he said, “Get back to base as fast as possible. It appears that the wild user is no longer that. That was an advanced tactic that we used to use.”

For the second time, Sasha’s face held fear as she increased her speed as fast as she could. Dispelling the now empty net, she had a look on her face of terror.

The whole way back, Kattra was mumbling about they were all dead, that the wilder was going to kill them all. The fact that number two was as terrified as she was, was an eye-opener.

After dropping two off, Sasha went to her room to think. They had to practically knock number two out for the leader to enter the same room.

He stood over her with a hand out stretched as he saw what she had. They still didn’t know who this was, and it appeared they still wouldn’t.

The illusion around their enemy was, by far, stronger than any he’d ever seen. For only the third time in his life, he was indeed afraid.

As it was now? They would all be dead at the end of the week. No wonder number two was babbling about her encounter with the now trained wild.

They needed a plan as soon as they could. The mere fact that she had eliminated the new five and two of the original was dire.

There was only a few that he could call, and they might panic as things were. He shook his head as he knew the military types would want all-out war, that would be massive devastation.

He immediately called the only one that might be able to help. Timon just hoped that he listened and didn’t go off like a warmonger he had.

Timon smiled as he thought about it, he’d been under orders back then. It had co9st him and the team the only true friend they ever had. It was bad enough that they couldn’t talk about it.

Over time, the five that had fallen only a year later were a knife in the gut. Now? They were in a situation where they didn’t have a good chance to survive.

He shook his head, this one had just wanted to be left alone plus, they had the power to enforce it. It almost made him want to look over all the missions that they had been on.

He was sure that the records had been buried far deeper than any thought. They really didn’t want to come to the light of day what atrocities had been done then.

There were more than a few extremely powerful ex-military out there that had signed a lot of those orders. Many of whom I couldn’t touch but the wild trained could.

Timon sighed that bridge had almost been burned, that was for sure. With them as powerful as they were, they might end up killing them all before they knew.

He had to try and contact his old and last handler, he thought, though for the moment my dad was in dead air. Timon looked at the files that were in front of him all the proof that was needed.

His old handler was the only one that might help. If he was able to somehow contact him as there was no response.

He shook his head as he put them away and wiped the memory for now. The many compulsions that had been put in, were still as strong.

The call he had made suddenly was picked up as a new voice he hardly recognized, answered. “Sir,” Timon started. “We have a bigger problem than we first thought,” Timon said, the compulsion kicking in.

A half hour later, his phone went dead as the authority at the other end disconnected. True, the man was far more level-headed than most, but even with the revolutions, Timon wasn’t sure.

He was still afraid that they were going to get away with all the horrors that they said was under patriotism. Timon shook his head, he knew better he was for this country, but he was positive they weren’t.

He made plans to have the files delivered to one that was beyond all the handlers. He prayed that the real guilty would be punished as he was sure he would be dead before that.

He lifted and blanked most of his mind as he left with the files and a long letter. He couldn’t hold it long, but he was some stronger as he sped away.

I smiled at dad as I had done as he had planned, I then stumbled as I had gone against two so close together. Dad helped me to bed as I held on to him as tightly as I could.

Dad put me to bed as he gave me a long passionate kiss. Damn, I thought, that was a kiss to repeat! I reached for him again as he shook his head no and left the room.

I pouted a moment then realized that I was more tired than I thought. I closed my eyes and awoke more than a few hours later, shocked that I had slept that long.

Dad came in a few moments later carrying a tray of food. I threw the covers back and sprang for the bathroom, sitting I didn’t think I was going to stop peeing.

I heard Dad laughing as I sighed loudly as I drained my bladder, damn that felt good! I walked back out, my face as red as a tomato, damn that was embarrassing!

“It’s alright your mother used to,” he stopped when I put a hand up to stop him.

“I am not ready to talk about her attitude and spite when she left. I never knew mom was as vindictive as she was, she hid it damn well,” I told dad with anger in my voice.

“Shit!” Dad said as he rose from the bed where he had sat. “I’m really sorry, hon, sorry that you heard all of that, I tried to spare you.”

I shook my head, “I think that I am better than I know dad. I am just finding it hard to understand just why in the hell she reacted like that. Was I that bad of a daughter that she hated me like that?”

Dad enfolded me in his arms as the tears were now flowing freely down my face. All the fears and insecurities that I had in school and life came flooding back.

Dad just held me as I cried out all the pain and fear that I was feeling. “Shh hon, it wasn’t you no, it was her own stupidity that didn’t allow her to truly love you.” Here Dad sighed, “I’m not sure if she really ever did. Now eat and let’s go training more, I have a few things that I hope help.”

I dried my eyes as I nodded and tucked in to the plate of food. I was surprised that I was as hungry as I was when the plate was empty in no time.

Dad looked at me with a smile as he took it out, and appeared a few minutes later with another plate. “I kind of figured that you were going to be ravenous.”
