Chapter 3

I found that the telepath contacting me had come as a surprise. As the leader of her sect, I found that she had taken a great risk talking to him.

Perhaps I thought, I had allies there after all. Though I wondered if she had been sincere, I then used the power I had gained from her and reached into her mind and searched it. With a smile, I saw that yes, she’d been true after all.

A smile crossed my features as I realized the extreme risk that she had taken. I looked toward the Teepe and thought that I should tell Iqua, then was surprised when she answered.

I believe I was more shocked than she was. You can hear me?, I asked.

Of course, I felt her when she arrived. I am surprised that you didn’t copy her power faster than you did husband.

OK, I thought, we were going to have to talk after all. I felt a smile light up Iqua’s face as she replied, Of course, my husband.

I started to walk toward our home when I felt a rippling of time and the air before me. A moment later, I heard Iqua warn me of the incursion, pushing me into action.

As the ass appeared, I immediately froze him in place. The look of astonishment on his face was priceless, at least ‘til he started to fight against it.

I tightened my grasp on him as his power started to excalate to titanic strength. I growled as I reached within him and started to remove his powers. I was ripping them out violently as I saw the dark, evil thoughts that he possessed.

With a scream, he dropped like a rock to the ground, “Go ahead, you bastard abomination, kill me! I won’t be the last, we will never stop ‘til you and all here are destroyed.”

I shook my head as I stared at him. “I don’t see why you waste your energy on me and mine. We did nothing to you for this anger.”

“Your very existence is an affront to the world of magic,” the man snarled.

“What to be left alone and be away from all the prejudices that supposed normal magical beings. You and many of the others are not the pure souls that you claim, here look,” I said as I reached in and pulled out all his evil thoughts.

For a few moments, he refused to look, then curiosity took over as he stared at his own thoughts. That’s when the tears started, then the shouting, “Kill me please. Don’t allow this out upon the world.”

I shook my head no as I finished stripping him of his magical powers. “I’m going to allow you to live as a mortal, to see the error of your ways.”

I then broke all of his time charms as I concentrated and sent him back to the council. I just shook my head as he started to vanish, screaming at me to kill him.

I turned and walked away, heading for the river. I hadn’t killed him though, I might as well have. I knew that the magical world was ruthless and would kill him in a moment.

An hour later, I felt a presence walk up behind me. I knew it was Iqua before she got near. I was as open as I could be, making sure nothing was sneaking up on me.

“My love,” I heard her say, “I am here to assist you. How can I ease the pain that you are feeling within your heart?”

I sighed as I turned to face her beautiful short body. “I’m not sure if you can, my love,” I said to her. “I might have as well killed him, sending him back was a death sentence.”

“Husband, he was sent to kill you. You had no choice but to defend yourself, and by that the tribe and me. Remember your death means the death of all of us,” Iqua said sincerely.

I nodded my head as I knew she was right. Still, I felt bad as I didn’t try to kill and only would in self-defense.

I felt her arms as they encircled me, most of the tension melting away. I turned and pulled her close, feeling the love that she had for me and I for her.

“It appears that I am not finished. I need to take this to them before they send more killers for us,” I said rather sadly.

Iqua nodded her head as she whispered, “You need to train more before you go off. I felt you struggle with this one.”

I nodded, “It wasn’t that bad, was it?” I looked at her as she nodded at me, a look of concern on her face.

I sighed as she nodded at me, her concern more pronounced. “I don’t want to lose you, just as you are growing strong enough.

I was about to comment but the look of conviction in her eyes convinced me. “I nodded in defeat as we started for the training field.

The rest of the week we trained, though at first I didn’t see the point of it. Iqua went at me as hard as she could. I could see her power very slowly growing.

I thought that if she hit me that I was dead. An errant blast from her hit me in the back. I was prepared to die, I was shocked when I didn’t even feel it.

“Ah, good husband, you are much stronger,” Iqua said as she walked to me.

“I can see that you are growing as well. I have also watched your power grow,” I said.

She nodded her head sadly, “Grown yes, a little, though mine is nothing compared to yours. I am afraid that I can no longer train you, you have grown beyond me.”

I looked at her, seeing an outline of her and her power. Then I looked at myself, my mouth dropping open. It was then I realized why she was so tired.

Iqua had used all her power4 to make mine increase. Unfortunately, she could no longer gain those bursts enough to help me.

I mean it was like a rock thrown against a shield, practically nothing. I held her close as I felt her tremble.

“Please, my husband, return to me and our little Quana. She will be as powerful as her father and she’ll need your guidance,” Iqua said.

I shook a minute as she mentioned our daughter, “I will do all I can. I promised to protect my family and the tribe, I can do no less.”

Iqua nodded her head as she hugged me tighter. A moment later, our daughter appeared in her arms, a bundle of joy who cooed at me.

I looked at the both of them feeling the love they both had for me. “I will return as soon as I can, my loves.”

Iqua nodded to me as I bent and kissed Quana. Iqua nodded as our baby cooed happier, then I kissed Iqua with as much passion as I could. Iqua sighed as we parted, then I vanished.

Back in modern times, the one that led those that had tried to kill my sisters bristled. “Malacouy,” one of his cronies said. “We sent one of the strongest assassins back to find and kill him.”

Malacouy stared at the male with a questioning look. “I do hope that you had enough time charms on him to enable him to complete this.”

The almost servant of the leader nodded, “We figured that in before we sent him. We assumed four would be enough, especially the internal one.”

Malacouy nodded as he thought, he knew of this assassin and the raw power he had. Then he remembered just how strong the nature magic user had been.

A grimace came to his features as he shook his head no. “As strong as I felt the abomination was, four might not be enough. I watched him destroy two very strong magic users with ease. It is going to take a great many to kill this blight on the magic world.”

He turned back to the window as he watched the mundane humans walk pass. A sigh escaped his lips as he thought of the missed opportunity to take the three sisters and use them.

“Is there anything else that we can do in case the assassin fails?” Malacouy’s cronie asked.

Malacouy thought, as he wasn’t that sure, one of the best killers was on it. If one of the best failed, then the magic world was in deep shit, especially him.

He felt a summons from the panel of the magic councils. He appeared a moment later, as the many councils were all there in person.

A twisted evil smile crossed his lips as he powered up and started to attack all there. He halted a moment later as the leader of the Psychic council’s hands were glowing as pain hit him.

Malacouy tried to fire at her, but the pain increased as he suddenly left. As soon as he appeared, he started to ward around the building.

Many of those with him were shocked when he started to put up forbidden spells. Only one complained, then was incinerated instantly.

Breathing out forcefully, Malacouy stared at the rest of them. “Any others want to bitch about things? I can remove you just as easily!”

This made the rest there stand up straight, shaking their heads’ no. Many had started to back away, slowly trying to gain space between them and Malacouy.

Malacouy had started to laugh almost maniacally when a shimmering appeared at his feet. All the magic users there started to scream when they saw that it was a mundane.

Malacouy held up a hand to quiet then down as he looked closer at the person. He gestured to the one that had spoken before. “Does he look familiar?”

The almost servant stared at the person on the floor, then his mouth dropped open. “It’s the assassin! What has happened?”

The male on the floor looked completely fearful as he stared at Malacouy. “I am not going to hurt you, what happened?”

The assassin went into how fast I was, the almost complete freeze spell. He told of how strong I had been and nothing he did would free him.

Malacouy nodded as he took in everything that was said. “I see, well, I guess I can help you now,” he said as both his hands started to glow.

“Wait,” the now human said. “I thought you said that you weren’t going to hurt me.”

An evil smile came to Malacouy’s face as he said, “I’m not going to hurt you. You see, I’m just going to kill you.” He then shot the now human with a powerful beam, disintegrating the male.

This had all those with him quiet as could be as they saw the half-crazed look in Malacouy’s eyes. It was even worse when he turned toward them, his evil smile growing wider.
