Chapter 7
I nodded as I looked toward Nell as she shook her head no. I sighed as I nodded and sat back down feeling a lot better myself.
The next day, Gene and I went at it full tilt again, though I noticed that her hits didn’t hurt as badly. The third day, we were trying our best to kill each other ‘til I hit her, and she couldn’t rise at all.
I carried her into the Tepee and started to heal her as fast as I could. Iqua and my sisters were there in moments as I was pouring energy into her.
They all sighed in relief as Gene rapidly started to grow healthier. Nell and Fay looked at me as they nodded, “Rest Nell said, “Tomorrow we begin the real training.”
I almost felt that Nell was pissed as hell as she turned to walk out. “Why are you mad at me?” I said.
“I’m not mad, just determined to keep you alive and on track. If I can’t get you as high as I can? Then you will die as we will not long after, so it’s in your and our best interests to go as hard as we can.”
I shuddered a moment at the near steel in her voice. I knew that up ‘til now it had been nothing tomorrow was do or die and we both knew it.
I was slightly shaking as I stepped out of the Tepee. I remembered what Nell had said, and I remembered that she was strong as hell.
We started out trying to kill each other as her attacks were in no way light. The both of us were panting after only an hour, our clothes shredded as well.
I was shocked at the size of Nell’s breasts as we kept at it as hard as we could. An errant energy shot got through my defenses, knocking me out of the air.
Nell smiled almost evilly as I tried to rise and hit her with a full shot that downed her. She was smiling bigger than before as she walked towards me, then I passed out.
I awoke on my pallet and saw a well bruised Nell across from me. I turned my face away at the smile she gave me, “I am sorry that I shamed the family today. I will strive to do better,” I said, ashamed.
I heard three gasps from the entrance and Nell. “Shame? Why are you feeling shame?” Nell asked.
“Because I was weak and passed out from your shot. I knew I was dead, but I still tried to fight, I am sorry I am so weak,” I said, a voice full of shame.
I heard Nell grunt, then turn toward her sisters. What in the hell type of bullshit have the two of you been feeding him? I said to build him up, not depress him so bad that he thinks he is a failure. Damn it do I have to do it all myself?”
“You said to push him, that’s the only way I know how!” Gene almost said in a shrill voice. “If I had known you wanted to baby him I would have,” Gene stopped suddenly slapping a hand over her mouth.
I looked up in time to see Nell with a worried face and Gene running out of the Tepee as fast as she could. Nell looked at Fay as she nodded and ran after Gene.
Nell then sighed right before Iqua entered the Tepee. “So,”Iqua started. “None of you have told him?”
Nell grimaced as she turned toward Iqua, “I don’t see how we can,” she then turned toward me. “There are things that you do not know, nor do I feel as the family head that you should. Especially now that you are actually starting to achieve your destiny, I’m afraid that you’ll abandon it.”
I looked at two of the women who meant the most to me, more confused than I had ever been. “Alright, it appears that I am dead then, I am so damn confused I don’t know what to think.”
Both of them looked at each other with an almost look of desperation on their faces. A shimmering beside me let me know that the goddess was here to help.
I sighed as I saw that she had a look of sympathy on her face. “My champion, there are a few pleasant surprises coming to you. It has to be after you have secured more of the present or future for you. Do not despair when it is time all will be revealed, and you will be far happier than you are right now.”
I slightly groaned as she was being crytic as always. Why in the hell couldn’t we just be straight about everything that was going on?
Back where Malacouy’s blobish/human thing was raging, none of the areas had fallen. It wasn’t the best, but I did have a few buildings in all three zones.
I knew I was going to have to go back and expand them more if the people were going to survive. Unfortunately, I still had dark thoughts that I thought, Why, why try to save those that didn’t care about me?”
I sighed as I stretched out, then appeared not far from where Malacouy was. I started to expand the area, catching a few more shadows and two more buildings.
I then vanished, appearing outside Malacouy’s old home, expanding it almost a whole block. I ended up catching thirty more shadows.
I noticed that he only had a few blocks more to connect the council area and Malacouy’s. Sighing, I wished it was faster as there were still too many that were slaves to Malacouy.
I expanded the area another half block when he felt that Malacouy’s cronies were approaching. He had finished with the half blocks then vanished to the largest area across the world.
He immediately started moving to the very edge of the city a mile away. Strangely enough, he had only gotten a few hundred more when he felt them approaching.
He vanished to the opposite side of the city as he started to expand an area away from the city. This actually made him feel a lot better with the huge amount of people he saved.
The blob of Malacouy was rapidly approaching as he had managed to get three large farm areas. With a sigh, he vanished back to the council chambers, then went below to check on the leader.
Many of the councilors were there hissing at him as he walked to the leader. He placed a hand on the leader that several councilors tried to stop, then were repulsed against the walls.
He raised a finger, waggling it at them, “You have already lost Leanna and the telepaths. You keep this up? You’re going to lose a few more then, where will you be?”
They all actually drew back for a moment, allowing me to withdraw almost all the poison I felt in the leader. Again, a few tried to stop me as I looked at them accusingly.
“So, it was you three that poisoned him. I guess that’s how you knew that In was extracting it from him,” I said as they tried to still remove my hand from the leader.
“You truly are an abomination to think that we would poison our friend,” a pseudo leader said. Unfortunately for them, the rest of the councilors were also staring at them accusingly.
“It did appear that you three were rather quick to think that he was dead,” an older councilor said, his eyes narrowing.
At that moment, the leader took a deep breath, then his eyes flickered open. I stopped the draw having almost every bit of it and deposited it in a flask near the bed.
I then bowed to all of them, then vanished, falling back in time. I was far more powerful, but I still felt that Malacouy had held back a bit and could have beaten me soundly.
I arrived a bit faster than I wanted to and slightly off target, which was fortunate as I hit a pond damn fast. I sunk so far that I didn’t think I was going to make it to the surface.
I was unceremoniously pulled from the pond, sputtering and taking a deep breath. When I cleared my eyes, Leanna, Iqua and all three of my sisters were glaring at me.
I tried to grin but found that it took too much energy to try. All their glares suddenly turned into looks of concern.
Nell was the only one that was still upset with me. “You went, and you weren’t ready, you need to train more, or you’re going to get killed!” she nearly shouted at me. “I realized that you had to go, but you should have waited!”
I sighed as best as I could, realizing that she was right. “I know, but I had to expand it, now the whole block of our house is on, is defended,” I said.
Nell humphed as she crossed her arms over her breasts. “This is going to get all of us killed, we are in no way a match for him or his cronies. Even if this is weakening him, it’s not fast enough even with the five areas now.”
I sighed as I nodded my assent, then tried to take a step and promptly fell on my face. I heard a few shocked gasps, then Nell bent down to my ear, “I ought to leave your stupid ass here.”
I managed to push myself off the ground, then sat. I took a deep breath then started to stubbornly crawl my way to the Tepee.
I heard a grunt of displeasure as I felt two arms help me up and toward the Tepee. When I looked at who had me, it was a worried Leanna and a really upset Nell.
A worried Iqua helped me to my pallet as I felt the weariness take me. Just before I passed out, I heard Nell grumble as she said, “idiot!”
I awoke a day later as I found that I was sore all over. I swear that I was bruised all over, almost as if I had had the shit kicked out of me.
It took another day ‘til I was ready to go again and found I was facing a totally pissed-off Nell. Her first blast hit me and drove me back through at least four very thick trees.
It took all that I had to keep her from killing me. That was ‘til she said I was an idiot and didn’t care about them raising my own anger.
I felt my power as it started to grow far larger than I had ever felt. The titanic blast I released as I screamed at Nell, was far larger than I had intended.
As soon as I released it, I knew I had gone too far. Right before I saw it hit her, Nell was smiling more than I had ever seen her do.
I watched it in horror as it dissolved all her clothes and burned her chest, arms and legs. I was at her side in an instant, not noticing that I had instantly moved that far, that fast.
