June 18, 2052

“We’ve identified a disturbance in the timeline.”

“When was it?”

“There is a deviation that started manifesting back in 1981.”

“In what way did it deviate?”

“According to the predictions of our historical models, the United States was headed towards establishing a social progressive government. It turned to conservative Darwinism without any real reason.”

“Let me guess. It led directly to the Bastard.”

“Right.”

“How do the historians explain it?”

“They can’t.”

“Damn.”

“It has to be a time traveler.”

“Damn.” He paused in thought, then said, “Send the bird woman.”

“Who?”

“That woman who is named after the bird. Sparrow ... Wren...”

“Robin?”

“That’s the one.”

“Why her?”

“She’s attractive, but can be vicious as hell. Maybe she can create a timeline that avoids the trying times.”
