Chapter 14

Yes, let me see all of it. Um, yes. You were doing good ‘til you acted as if the people were nothing. This is a very young, very powerful race. They are not like those that came before. Even with the eight they have now, they are as powerful as the four of you. I suggest that you amend what you did or there will be an opening for another race! The Supreme’s thoughts shouted angrily.

The other three had wisely not thought nor said a thing. They each had been punished rather harshly by the Supreme. The Supreme looked at Dutenner then nodded before it vanished.

It was quite a few minutes before Xeinther was capable of pulling his body erect. He had to take a few more moments before he was able to speak. It appears, he started, that we have to do all that we can to placate the human. The supreme wishes it ensnared as we all are. When next we meet with him, we must agree with it and have it join.

Dutenner hid a smile in its body as he saw Xeinther struggle. It had felt the Supreme’s punishment, though not as harsh as the others. It also had a secret that the others knew nothing of.

Dutenner shook again as the future sight hit it harder this time. A smile again graced it’s body as he saw the battles and a certain death that was completely unexpected. It was still waiting to see its death, though it hadn’t as yet.

It broke the connection as soon as it could. It was afraid that the leader of the four, almost five races was catching on to what was happening. Dutenner had felt the Supreme’s grasp on it starting to slip not long ago. That’s when its future sight had returned.

It looked at its mate, wondering if they would actually be free from the supreme. If the legend was true, it was a race helped by one, that would be the enemy. Then it would free all of them.

Dutenner reached out feeling that a great many of its people were also slipping free of the supreme. Releasing what was almost a sigh, it thought that if the human was the liberator, it neede3de to be ready.

I came out of the vision with the other four races, far angrier than I thought I would be. To me, the further this went along, the more like a fake job it felt like. I was actually struggling to control my temper when I opened my eyes.

Everyone had backed away from me a great distance as they could feel the anger rolling off me.

“Dad?” I heard Trina say in a quiet voice. I did my best to calm down, but my eyes were red when I looked up. Trina immediately backed further away.

I saw that Bell was also backing away. Though, she stopped when Alice actually put a hand on me. I felt almost all the anger seem to evaporate. I shook my head as I looked up and into Alice’s eyes. Just as suddenly, I saw my dead wife, Shemie.

“Oh, my beloved Bill. There is a much deadlier threat out there than you think. It will take your power to defeat it. You, my dear, are the strongest and will always be. The people of earth are one of the most desired allies in the universe. We are like a great many out there with a single difference,” Shemie said.

I looked into the vision of the love of my life who I was so lost without. “The same but different, whatever are you talking about?” I asked.

There are so many out there that are as emotional as we are. The thing is, our emotions are so closely tied to our lifeforce that it can, at times, be a very powerful weapon. Remember stay as calm as you can ‘til you know it is time. Can you do that for me? For Us my love?” She asked.

“For you, my love, I would crawl through hell for you. Every day without you is a strain to continue without you. I will remember and do all I can,” I said as a few tears rolled down my cheek.

“Remember to protect all of them, the one you lost was proud to help. He wished he could have done more, though he is at peace for now. Remember,” she said as she laid a hand beside my head, then the vision of Shemie vanished.

Both my daughters were almost in shock, “Mom?” They both whispered as tears fell from their eyes also.

I had to shake my head a few times to clear it as Alice was looking around a bit confused. “Are you alright?” She asked.

I started to nod, then said, “I have to be, as I have learned this is, it seems is far from over.”

“Far from over? I thought that the threat was removed?” She asked.

“The little ones, yes, though I believe the four races that were supposed to be our allies. May in fact be setting the human race up to become slaves to a much bigger threat,” I told her. “Though for some reason one feels far different from the other three.”

Alice’s and my daughter’s faces hardened up, with looks of anger. “We need to strengthen more then, don’t we?” Alice asked as she stepped forward.

“I agree with you, but we need to strengthen all of us if we are to survive. I need almost all the others to be as strong if not stronger than all three of you are right now. I don’t know how long we have, but we have to try,” I said.

Alice and my daughter’s mouths dropped open in surprise. “I thought that the four races were some of the strongest,” Bell said.

I shook my head, “no, they were afraid of something else, besides me. I am stronger than two of them together, though not all four, but I will be soon. They are terrified of something else,” I said, then moved to the weakest and started to bring their power higher.

I noticed as I did this my own power rose though none were as fast as the rest of them. I wasn’t that worried well; I didn’t let on that I was as worried. I was already more than twice what my daughters were and growing.

It wasn’t ‘til I got to my daughters and Alice that I had significant growth in my power. I had just finished both my daughters when I climbed higher than three of the races together. Though I needed more to go against something that was greater than all four together.

When I finished with Alice, I knew I was almost there at the cusp of all four. I finished and told all of them that they needed to rest as I was going to try again tomorrow. I then left myself again and was on the Xetron home world.

As I looked around, I saw that the building was empty or thought it was. I found a few of the more aggressive military leader still alive. Well, for a few minutes. Then I went over the entire planet in a few minutes, finding the rest. I thought of home and was back almost immediately.

Hmmm, I thought as I reached inside, this had risen my power more than I thought. I was a good way beyond all four of the reps together. I just shook my head as I reached out to increase the shield around the earth. I was shocked when it increased to three times more than it had been.

I nodded as I reached out and increased it again, feeling that it would barely hold out what I was afraid was coming.

I sighed, I wish that they had been as strong as they were now earlier. The problem was that they were far weaker against this new threat than they were against the Xetrons. I mean against it they had gone from nothing to a mere annoyance.

I shook my head. I had to bring them higher if they were going to survive. As of right now, I had a chance against it, though not much. The women were more than an annoyance. My old crew were almost where my daughters had been. The rest. I sighed, the rest needed serious work.

I needed an ally though, as I had felt, there were none that were as strong as I was on the earth. I reached out to search, finding a hell of a lot of strong mind warriors, I guess. They, not a one of them, were inclined to help any others.

I had thirty-six here that were by far stronger though not near enough. Plus the fact that they needed at least a day to allow their bodies to catch up with their minds.

I was remembering everything that I had seen and done, trying to determine a strategy. This new enemy that I was sure was watching everything that I did must be planning also.

I felt that I was going against an intelligence that made my mind pale. Then there were the four races that I had to contend with.

I laid down as all the strengthening that I had done had sapped me a bit. I was afraid that tomorrow was going to be far worse if I didn’t rest.

I had just fallen asleep when I was suddenly within another gray area. The thing is that this one felt a great bit different. I looked around, not trying to get angry. I had told the others that I was done.

A moment later I felt someone or thing moving toward me. I was surprised when Dutenner appeared before me, even more when it bowed to me.

I cannot be here long, came its thoughts. It then motioned me closer, can you come here? It asked.

I nodded, then walked toward it and was actually beside it. The instant I was actually there, it started to breathe better and looked better.

What lies are you wanting me to hear? I almost growled.

I saw that Dutenner was terrified and sat to wait. I am here to ally with you, we are a weak race as our world has been poisoned. I cannot say the name, but as I know you know, there is one out there far stronger than us.

I nodded my knowledge of this.

My people have been breaking away from its influence, we wish to help or die trying. Dutenner’s thoughts said. We do not ask for anything, only that we wish to die helping you so that we can again be free even if we are no longer here.

Another fish-like being was rushing in to where we were. The being’s mouth opened in shock as it saw the extremely clean water-like atmosphere.

Mate? It asked finally, how is this possible? It hasn’t been this clean for a great amount of time.

Dutenner bowed to me as the other being began to look a lot better. I reached out feeling at least a thousand canisters like things in the open. I started to shut them down. I had all of them in no time. I then waved a hand, clearing all the water atmosphere to near what it should be.
