Chapter 16

I also saw two females, one very regal, more so than the man. The other seemed almost to be a younger version of Wren.

This didn’t feel right if this was Wren’s universe. Where was she? The com went off and I heard, “Sir. We need you to help us. You appear to be the only one that can. Please help to save our Wren.”

I was immediately beside the man. “What has happened?” I asked, shocking the man.

He immediately led me to a building straight to a room with Wren, a very pregnant Wren.

“I’m so glad you made it. Remember when I handed you the pad, as you called it? The shock, was you giving me this, thank you, Daddy,” she whispered as she grabbed my hand.

A moment later a light appeared, then settled on her chest, solidifying into a male baby. “A son, our son,” she said with a huge smile.

A moment later, her father, mother and sister appeared, as did several older aliens. OK, I thought, hell of an introduction.

“I found that this was the only way I could have a child. You are the only one I could with, as we share the same energy. Any names come to mind?” she asked.

I could only shake my head. I heard in my head that I had time that both of us did. Wren stared at me with a shocked look. This was where I belonged.

I could only stand there in shock. I had a child. A son? How in the hell was this possible?

It was at that moment that I again heard the powerful being that I had before. This is perhaps a reward for all the work you did to protect existence. It is not always what we do, but what we don’t do to protect everything.

I started in my mind confused as hell. I thought that this is what needed to be done. I would have gladly given my life to protect all of them. I started to shake my head. Compared to all the universes, I am nothing.

I felt a great outflowing of love wash over me. That is why you are being more than rewarded. You sacrificed everything to protect everyone, everything. A very great many could learn from one such as you.

I know that everyone there were staring at me as if I had lost my mind. I felt frozen, hardly believing that this was gifted to me. Still being the stubborn ass I am, I was still not believing it.

Ah, John Thomas, I know just how stubborn you are. This is real and yes, I am what you might call a deity, in a way.

I took a step back and immediately regretted it. The next thing I knew, several hours had passed, and I was in bed beside Wren.

I heard a heavy sigh from beside me as I very slowly turned my head. All three of my, I guess you’d say mates were looking at me

“Please John, don’t do that again,” Rommie said.

“That was scary as hell,” Mary said.

“Really,” Wren said with a smirk. “I just had a baby, not at full power, don’t do it!”

I was about to say something when both Mary and Rommie doubled over in pain. “OH shit!” The both of them said as medical people came running.

I could hear several of them yelling to get me and Wren out of the room. That was the wrong thing to say, especially with my temper.

Anyone approaching the room would have been shocked when bodies started to fly out of the room. Well, that and the fact that Wren was also shouting at them.

Her father and mother were there a few minutes later, plus the alien men from before. The strangest thing was the shock they had on their faces when they couldn’t enter.

I could see that Wren was indeed pushed past her limit though she was holding steady. I lifted off the bed floating over to her, “Let it go Wren, I’ve got it,” I said.

I watched as she relaxed, almost passing out. “I trust you more than almost all, John,” she said with a smile.

I slightly nodded, looking at the doorway, a small growl escaping my lips. I looked at the oldest and strongest of the aliens.

These three females are mine. Therefore, I do not take calmly to being told that I am to be removed from them. I know that all of you are important to Wren. I do not know you nor do I trust you.

The older male alien bowed as he nodded to me. A moment later he was beside Wren, a look of complete shock on his face.

“I’m not sure if you remember the male I told you of my master. “This is him and next to him, I have no power even if he increased my own,” I heard her say,

The male’s mouth dropped open a moment, then he nodded. I had put both Rommie and Mary in the other beds. For now, they were breathing better, and the pain was almost gone.

I then turned to watch the older alien, then he turned towards me. “May I scan you? Wren has said your power is far different from any she has ever seen,” he said.

I nodded though kept most of my guards intact. The old male started the scan and I had to admit it was the best I had felt.

It was a few minutes later that I saw that his eyes flew wide. “You sir,” he started. “Have more power than almost any I have ever seen. It is far different from any I have felt, and we are over ten centuries old.”

For some reason, I just nodded, “This is not my universe. The energy here that I have seen is normal to me. What I have, I have had all my life. I am here for Wren and nothing else. I therefore hope that none have designs on me, Wren or my others. Believe me when I say it won’t end well.”

The older male nodded, then I set him back outside the doorway. I saw him talk to Wren’s father and mother, then I saw Wren staring at the door. A moment later the three I had met before were inside next to Wren.

I saw her father look Wren over, then walked slowly to me. “May I?” he asked.

I nodded as he sat as I was looking over both Rommie and Mary. “We do have a great medical team here if they are in need,” he said.

I just turned to look at him, “possibly advisable, though not practical. You might notice that I, and they are not from this universe. I myself am far beyond what all of you are. She,” I pointed to Rommie, “is a created being that has the mind and knowledge of a high-functioning super A.I.”

I saw his eyes go wide for a moment, then he nodded, “And the other female?”

“She is a young female who was being used by the government that I used to live in. She and the others are free now. The problem is taken care of for now. As I said, I am here for Wren and nothing else though. I think she wants me to help,” I said.

Again, I saw her father nod, then I felt it from him a bit of shock hitting me. So I thought he was the other one.

I felt a slight touch. As we said, I heard the voice say. He does not need to be brought back to what he was.

I held still this time as I didn’t want to be out a few hours again. I will not tell him. I take it you are here to advise me?

Wren was almost finished with the masters and releasing them from the saving measures that they had enacted. There were four hundred, though she had only released three hundred of them. Then there is the fake queen. Wren hasn’t the power and this needs to be completed.

I will help if I can, I replied. I felt the hand on my shoulder shift to my head, then I woke up on the floor again. Damnit, I wish they’d give me more warning.

I saw that there were several sets of worried eyes staring at me. At least this time my head wasn’t splitting open. I went over the information, then nodded. I pulled all ten of the aliens inside.

“I’ll be back as soon as I can, Wren, don’t let them touch Rommie and Mary,” I said. I then touched both of them. They both nodded. I had all the aliens hold hands as we vanished and appeared in a room with a chrysalis in the center.

“I was told that this is about to fail. This holds the last of those that are left?” I asked.

When they just nodded their heads, I put a hand on it watching a huge ball of light break free of it.

I nodded as I moved away. The light broke in half every few seconds. Less than ten minutes later there were ninety-nine of the aliens lying on the floor. I looked and counted, then looked at the old leader.

“Where in the hell is the last one? There are supposed to be four hundred. I only count three hundred, ninety-nine,” I said.

The oldest alien was about to speak when I received a message from Wren that gave me the last bit of info. Ah I thought, I see I’ll do what I can.

I then turned toward Wren’s master, “Where is she?”
