The car sprouted arms and climbed the wall. It looked like a white Tesla, but unless they did some crazy development stuff, this car was likely one of the aliens from the news.
I sprinted into the building, devoid of people, smart, most stayed safe in their homes, but some of us couldn’t, we had responsibilities.
An office building, with a small lobby, a bank of elevators, but also a back door, which I used as the white electric vehicle, back on wheels, smashed through the front window.
Out the back and I saw my salvation, destination, across the empty four lanes, down a grass embankment, through the massive parking lot with only four cars in it.
I ran for the tree on the boulevard, hopped on the concrete pot, as the alien Telus flew past and almost hit me. Too quick, it spun around, tires smoked, as the electric engine growled like a supercar. Definitely an alien.
I jumped down, ran straight to the next pot as the wind from the car pushed my hair into my eyes, but I saw a route.
Heart hammered, my legs burned, I tasted blood, as I landed on the asphalt, stumbled, recovered, and ran hard for a concrete walk away. It curved to the right, and I needed to go left, but the non-flatness would slow the thing down, maybe enough for me to make it to the box store in the distance.
My feet hurt on the concrete as I gasped for breath, the Tesla pulled the arm trick again, but while it had improved the coordination, it still overshot the concrete barrier, and I had a clear path to the store.
I ran towards a campervan, with the idea that I could get in and drive, or at least hide.
Five feet from the front, the Telus screamed behind me, and the van’s side opened in a mouth. I jumped to the side, rolled, ready to die, but the van ignored me, and pounced on the Tesla, which growled and fought back.
