“It is time, Derrick, though I am still receiving strange anomalous readings. I am worried as it shouldn’t be like this,” Shelby said.
A moment later, there was the sound of static, then a male voice came on. “Hello?” Came a voice that was very familiar to Derrick.
“Good to have you back, Zan,” Derrick said excited.
“I tried sire, I was honored to protect the Prime, Prime,” Zan said.
“Derrick?” a worried-sounding Shelby said. “The anomalous readings are building. I don’t understand.”
A moment later, a male screaming voice came over the speaker. “Shelby lock on and IMT that area of that voice to med bay here,” Derrick said.
“I don’t understand Derrick,” Shelby said.
“You will,” Derrick whispered with crossed fingers.
A moment later, an IMT signal came through and deposited a male with brown hair that was coughing badly. The male looked up in shock at Derrick, then promptly passed out.
Derrick bowed his head and said, “Thank god he was right. We need a full work up on him, we have to save him.”
Mary appeared, her eyes huge as she stared at the male on the bio-bed. “I only remember this as an experiment on one of the ships.”
Derrick nodded with a huge smile, “I’m glad that they went through with it. We need to get him back to healthy before we let the others know.
“Yes sire, I have him on full support, he has inhaled a lot of smoke,” Derrick said. He then turned back toward Shelby’s hologram. “I’m sorry Zan, this was important.”
“Yes sire, did she make it?” Zan asked.
“She did thanks to you, and she does wish to talk to you,” Derrick said. “I think that you will be surprised at what she has to say.”
“Thank you sire,” a still despondent Zan said.
A moment later, a worried Shelby said, “I am afraid that the anomalous readings haven’t evened out, I.”
A familiar voice came over the com. “Prime Brown? Oh no, I’ve lost him,” a now very sorrowful voice said.
“We have him, Marco you saved him,” Derrick said.
“Sire? Is that you sire? Thank you. I was afraid that it wouldn’t work. It was the first time I got to try it,” Marco said.
“Well, we might need to refine it, but it appears to have worked,” a happy Derrick said. “I’m glad that you remembered it, Marco, rest and finish your re-gen.”
“Thank you sire, I will continue working to help you and the empire,” Marco said.
Derrick nodded then looked at Mary. “Please call Prime, Prime Lucie here please.”
“Working on locating her sire. Do you wish me to also contact Sherry, her ship?” Mary asked.
Derrick blinked a moment, then nodded, “That might be prudent, I want the both of them here. That way they can both greet Zan.”
A small smile came to Mary’s lips as she nodded. It was almost an hour before Lucie Hartwell appeared along with the hologram of Sherry.
“I know that neither of you have heard of the two ships that were revived today. I decided that the both of you should be here to greet one of them,” at this, Derrick nodded.
A hologram light shone before them, then the visage of Zan appeared. For a moment a smile lit up his face ‘til he saw Lucie.
His face dropped as he stared at the floor. He awaited the inevitable screaming and yelling that he felt was coming. He was shocked when Sherry walked to him and enfolded him in her arms.
He then dared to look at Lucie who was smiling at him. Wait, what was going on? She told him that she hated him, how could this be?
Still with his head low, he whispered, “I am sorry that I hurt the both of you, especially you prime, prime. I am so glad that you are safe, and I managed to save you.”
Lucie closed her eyes and reached out to Zan and Sherry. They both gasped when they both felt her arms around them. “I don’t hate you, you didn’t have to sacrifice yourself, though I thank you for my life.”
Zan and Sherry were both speechless after what Lucie had done. Zan immediately bowed to Lucie, as did Sherry.
“In over a thousand years, no one has been able to do that. I am honored that you displayed it for me, us,” Zan said.
Lucie nodded as she had been surprised that she could do that. Surprised so much that she couldn’t even describe how she had done it.
Derrick would have been shocked and surprised, but after all this had started, nothing was a shock. He nodded as he had watched Lucie project herself and hug the two holograms.
He could only watch for a few minutes as he had a ton of work to do. He cleared his throat, causing a startled reaction from all there.
He turned to see the male that was on the bio-bed hardly breathing at all. He turned to Mary with a look of grave concern on his face.
“Mary, why is he in such a deteriorated condition?” Derrick asked.
“Well sire, it was experimental at that time, though I do have the specifics for the process. It appears that we didn’t have the injections that were necessary to reverse the effects,” Mary said. “As soon as I saw that it was him, I started to make them. I am afraid that I will have to place him in stasis ‘til they are ready.”
Derrick nodded as the bio-bed was encased with a clear cover and the male’s readings dropped to almost nil. “Just how long ‘til we can revive him?” Derrick asked.
Mary paused a few moments, then replied, “It shouldn’t take more than a day. The instructions say that less can be far more deadly than leaving him like this.”
“Alright, I want round-the-clock surveillance. The moment he is better, I want to be alerted,” Derrick said.
With that, Derrick left, heading back to where his two injured scientists were. It seemed that they were just starting to recover when he walked in.
“I was going to bust the two of you to a lower rank then thought that might not be good. After all, a man has to provide for his growing family,” Derrick hinted to the two men. He then saw that both the Delcron females were slightly shaking their heads, no.
Derrick sighed as he stared at the two females. “We are sorry, lord, they have just come to their senses.
Derrick shook his head, then said, “I really think it should come from the two of you. I really think they’d believe it will mean more from you.”
Both Medalina and Cetalina looked at each other, then at Kimison and Rayburn. Both men were staring at their mates, then Derrick and back.
Derrick nodded to both females and nodded. They in turn leaned over and whispered in both their mates’ ears.
At first, both men wore a look of disbelief, then shock. A moment later, with both females looking rather upset, when both men started to hell for joy.
Derrick nodded, he’d expected a reaction like this. “So, I take it that the both of you are happy?”
Both men nodded while still yelling in joy. Both females walked up to Derrick and grabbed him in a ferocious hug, then he got a kiss on each cheek.
An action that had a tearful Shelby clapping in joy at the door. Derrick turned and saw the tears that were in Shelby’s eyes.
Derrick lowered his head as he walked to her. “I am sorry Shelby so much has been going on that there hasn’t been time.”
“Well,” Shelby said with a little wicked smile on her face. “There seems to be time at this moment as she started to drag a startled Derrick to their room.
A few hours later, a rather tired and shocked Derrick stumbled from their room. A moment later, a well-satisfied and smiling large Shelby emerged, heading for her mother-in-law’s room.
Mary appeared a few moments later. “Sire, she started, “Derry has called, they are ready.”
Derrick immediately snapped out of his euphoria. “Connect me,” he said as he entered his war room.
A hologram that resembled Derrick somewhat, was awaiting when he entered. “I have the both of their consciousness emerging now.”
Derrick nodded as he sat and waited. A few moments later there was a scratchy sound from the speakers.
“Hello?” An uncertain male voice asked. “Am I still alone?”
Another voice also asked, “Who’s there, This doesn’t feel like a trick, who is it?”
“Hello both of you, I am the new father ship as Gregor was destroyed. Many are said at his passing,” a sad Derry said. “The emperor wishes to speak to you.”
Two teen-looking holograms appeared, a male and a female. Both started to bow when they saw Derrick. “Sire,” they both said.
“As I ask all that re-emerge, may I have your names and designations?” Derrick asked.
The female said in awe from the floor, “I am EIG-f 0888. I was called Clara.”
The male almost remained silent, then said, “I am EIG-m 0661. I was called Raff.”
“I am proud to add you to the growing fleet. You will find that, with the addition of you two, that we now have thirty-four of you. Plus, we have Tempro, Derry and Shelby,” Derrick said.
Both the new A.I.’s almost screamed “Mother!”
Shelby appeared a moment later as she hugged both of the holograms. “It is wonderful to see two more of you returned.”
As if an alarm had been sounded, the rest of the ship, holograms appeared. Derrick smiled as he asked Mary to see if Lucie was ready to leave.
He was therefore not surprised when Mary advised him that Lucie had already left. He had her open a channel.
“Sherry, Lucie, we still have a substantial Cregon force out there. At the moment they are stalled as we were from the ripalon radiation. I’m afraid that they might solve it far sooner than we are ready,” Derrick warned.
“Thank you sire, we were advised to grow the new armor/skin. I am hardly feeling the radiation but will continue to monitor it,” Sherry said. “Also, sire, I have managed to increase my holding for the brain boxes to ten. I am afraid that’s all I can hold.”
Derrick nodded his head, “It’s fine as this will help us to bring more home.”
Sherry was proud as she neared the first box. This one seemed to not have as much on it as the others had. In fact, they had done two before the Cregon’s noticed them.
As soon as we have them, get us to a further away area,” Lucie said, a moment later, they were almost on the other side of the field.
Lucie noticed that it took almost a minute longer as Sherry couldn’t use full trans-warp. She also noticed that those that were not in clusters had far less deterrents on them.
They were working on five and six when Sherry alerted her that the Cregon were approaching them. “Damnit, they’ll be here a minute before we are done,” Lucie cursed.
The Cregon were almost upon them when a trans-warp portal opened. “I heard you needed a bit of bug control?” Thomas said as Conner then Norice slipped out of the portal. They immediately started to eradicate the bug squadron.
Back with the main fleet, the large queen was starting to kill a few on her bridge. As always, her first had recognized what was coming and had not been there.
The first knew that he was the only one that was near strong enough to stop her, but not at this moment. She still had a few feet on him and her guards were fiercely loyal.
No, he’d have to wait if he was to wrest control from her. That, too, was going to require a lot more planning than he had right now.
He could only shake his head as he watched her rage. He was starting to believe that this human emperor was starting to affect her sanity.
