“It really was you, but how? Do you really have the time ship?” Grather said, his mouth wide open.
Derrick slowly nodded as he turned to Fravick. “Your father didn’t believe who I was, he had asked me for papers.” Here Derrick pulled out the same papers that he had used.
“A master programmer under the traitor. Only two people knew of these, with father the only one that ever saw them,” Fravick said.
Both brothers looked at each other and then turned and bowed to Derrick. “No one from the present has seen these. They were created by Tempro, so as I said, no one. I believe that you owe your sister an apology. Also explain that it was on orders from your father. As I remember, she loved him quite a bit, but they did butt heads a bit,” Derrick said with a smirk.
Both of them nodded though they were both a bit in shock. Derrick nodded to Mary, who called Shelby, who appeared a moment later.
Derrick sighed as the brothers apologized and started to explain what they could. When they got to the part about their father’s orders, she shook her head.
“Just like father to confuse and make a mess of things. You both say that there is a back-up of his personality, that would be a bit though, as he was,” here she shook her head. “The man never trusted a soul.”
Derrick was doing all that he could not to express anything that he knew. He then sighed as he walked out, he had a lot to do and not a huge amount of time to get it done.
He walked on toward the main frame, questions in mind that he wasn’t pleased about. He scanned the area to make sure he was alone before he entered and locked the room.
A few moments later, Gregor’s visage appeared before Derrick. A look of shock on the visage that caused Derrick to smirk.
“So I take it that there is something missing in order to activate this weapon?” Derrick asked as he stared at the visage.
Gregor could only stare at Derrick, then he slowly nodded. “I had it set that all three parts must be present before the memories are open. Even as I am, I also have no memory of it.”
Derrick had a look of anger for a moment, then he sighed. “If this weapon is as powerful as you make it out to be, then perhaps, the secrecy is as needed as you say.”
The visage of Gregor nodded, “I am afraid that, as I said, I can only access part of this. You need to find the final part before the weapon can be activated.”
Derrick nodded as he turned the visage off, secured it and all access to it from outer sources. He then walked out securing the door.
As he walked away, he received a call from Zimmel. “Sire?” he started a bit anxious. “It appears that the planet seems to be repairing itself.”
Derrick was only shocked for a moment, then nodded, “Show me,” he said. “Hmmm,” Derrick said as he looked at the readings.
“Sire,” Mary said as she looked at the readings also. “It appears that the planet has a store of the growth energy that the ships possess. At the rate that I am reading, repairs will only take a few days.”
“That’s the thing though, what’s so important that an energy growth matrix was left here?” Derrick shook his head, he hated puzzles and this was really starting to irritate him.
“I am not detecting a clear end plan from this. For now, I am only seeing a stabilizing of the planet itself, Mary said.
Derrick nodded as he watched the planet grow more as it was. “Shall we keep an eye on it?” Zimmel asked.
Derrick thought a moment, then nodded, “Contact me if the readings change. For now, you are the only one that we have there. We should have food supplies arriving soon.”
Zimmel nodded then cut the connection. Derrick could only shake his head at this new possible problem.
Mary was watching everything with a steady eye. For now, their enemies were at a standstill, though Risen was still trying to mine the asteroids.
The Cregons were still trying to get around the debris field. Lucie was about to set out for more of the boxes that were still out there.
Risen’s planet was finally stabilized with his troops defeated. She was keeping a close eye on the three enemy races that were within the empire.
They hadn’t managed to get off the planet, but they still had great destructive capabilities. Luckily, they still were having problems getting off the surface.
Mary was also keeping an eye on Sherry and Lucie. They had the new armor that was far better than any that they had at the moment. She also had an open channel with them in case they were attacked again by the Cregons.
She was also monitoring the growing matrixes on Shelby and Derry. It appeared that the time was three days less, as it was seven instead of ten.
Still, she worried that the thirty-four ships that they had weren’t going to be enough. That was especially with the world ships and their ability to also grow ships as the empire did.
After this they would have thirty-eight ships, but was it enough? From the data of the last battle, ten ships had taken over three hundred ships easily. This also included four world ships.
Mary knew that in order to win they would need far more ships. As it sat now, with the data from before, they might get over half of the three million she projected.
At the rate the Cregons were growing, they could be at that number when they started toward the imperial planet. She knew that the new armor, shields and weapons the emperor had added they had a better advantage.
Mary was still worried that they might not have enough yet. She had already instigated a ninety percent better targeting system.
Their only hope was having more primes, along with improved strategy. That she knew that the emperor was working on, soon she thought his brain would devise a better battle plan.
Thomas sighed as he started to go through the records of the academy and officer’s school. “Have you detected any within the two schools that have the parameters the emperor indicated.”
Conner appeared a moment later, “As of now, I have a reading on two that appear to have the same readings. They are very weak, though you and the others are the same.”
Thomas’s eyes rose for a moment, then he nodded, he was trying not to let things bother him as much. “alright start the other scans that the commander gave us.”
“Yes prime,” Conner said as several scans started. Conner was as close as they dared draw to the planet, they had been warned that their presence might spook the Rangers.
In a seat not far from where Zimmel and Brown were when they were chosen, Ara Sims was bored out of her mind. What was the deal with all the damn drills?
“Psst!” Came the voice of her friend Sesa Grey. “Are you as bored as I am?”
Ara put a hand to her mouth as she whispered, “God, you know it. These drills are driving me nuts!”
“What do you say we sneak out of here?” Sesa said. “Just have to get past her,” Sesa said, indicating the teacher, an older, stern-looking woman.
Ara was about to agree when she felt a strange tingling on her skin. What the hell, she thought as a light started to appear around her.
The teacher whipped around as a hologram of a little older male in the uniform of the empire appeared next to Ara. He smiled a minute as he looked away, then nodded.
“I take it you are Ara Sims,” the hologram said. “The empire has need of you.” At which point Thomas smiled at the woman.
Unfortunately, Ara grew afraid and ran screaming from the room. Thomas sighed as he shrugged, looking at the teacher.
Thomas turned to the side, “Track her Conner,” he said. He then noticed another in the room cock their head to the side as Conner replied to him.
“The female has fled to a facility with many waste removal apparatus,” Conner said. This made the other person look at Thomas strange.
Thomas floated over to the other person and whispered to them, “Don’t leave, I want to talk to you also.” The teacher heard and nodded.
Thomas again sighed as he floated through the walls and through the female bathroom wall. Ara was in a stall shaking almost uncontrollably.
“Ara, I am not here to hurt you, but we really don’t have time for all this. I’m really pressed for time as we all are, I just want to talk,” Thomas said, feeling that he was on a losing mission.
“GO AWAY! I’m not interested in any deal you have for me. I know that if I agree you’ll take me and drug me, leave me alone!” Ara said.
Thomas sighed again as he looked to the side, “Call him please.”
“Connecting now Prime,” Connor said, which caused Ara to scream again.
“What there are two of you? You afraid of one girl?” Ara almost growled.
“Prime!” Conner said, “I think that she heard me!”
A moment later, the hologram of Derrick appeared. “What the hell Captain, why are we in the female restroom?”
“Well sir, she screamed and ran. I know how important this is, so I followed her,” Thomas said matter-of-factly.
Derrick almost smacked a hand on his forehead, then turned to the stall. “I apologize when you are ready, WE will be outside the door. Let’s go now!” Derrick said sternly.
“Yes sir!” Thomas said as he saluted, then they left the room.
Ara had sat up when she heard Derrick’s voice, why had it sounded familiar? A few minutes later, she collected herself and left the room.
Her mouth dropped open as she immediately recognized Derrick, the Emperor of the realm. She immediately curtsied, “Sire, she said, how can I help you?”
“You apparently are displaying an ability to interface with the EIGs. I am here to ask if you’d care to test and possibly pilot one of them. That is if you do possess the ability,” Derrick said.
Ara blinked at what she’d been told, her? Piloting one of those monster war ships? Her eyes got wide as she lost her voice and looked back to Derrick and Thomas. She then started to enthusiastically nod her head.
Derrick looked at her with a small smile, “Are you alright young lady?” He almost laughed as she again, started to nod extra enthusiastically. “Alright, you said that there’s another?”
Thomas nodded as the three of them walked back into the classroom. Sesa arose as she walked to Ara, “Are you OK?” Sesa asked, to which Ara nodded.
Thomas looked amazed as he looked away, then back to Sesa. “I take it you are Sesa Grey?” Thomas asked.
Sesa smiled as she nodded, then she noticed Derrick, “Oh my god! You’re the Emperor!” she almost screamed.
Derrick smirked a moment then nodded, looking at Thomas, “The both of them?”
Thomas nodded in shock at the three of them. This made Derrick smile more, he wasn’t surprised as this was a lot like the last time.
Derrick slightly bowed, “I have a need for pilots for the EIGs. You both display the ability to do this, we need to test you to determine this. If you agree, gather your things and be back here in thirty minutes.”
Both females ran from the room, returning in twenty minutes. Derrick nodded to Thomas, then vanished, “Conner, please IMT both the cadets to the bridge.”
Both females blinked as they were on the ship less than two seconds later. “Welcome aboard,” Thomas said.
“Please, we’ll be there in moments,” both female’s mouths dropped open as the ship was in orbit of another planet.
