A Terran Trader on Toolondo

Summary: Captain Marc Parker makes a living making four-year hyperspace round-trips to trade with the Karkallians, a race distant from Terra. He meets and falls in love with a beautiful young Karkallian woman, all while trying to avoid screwing up and committing a faux pas while dealing with different social norms between Terrans and Karkallians. He also has to deal with what he learns about her father.

Inadvertently becoming involved in a political intrigue, Parker suddenly finds that he’s now a target. How does he respond? Who is the old Dubanian woman he meets? Why is the Emperor of the Goroke Empire allowing him to travel to the Gorokian capital planet when no other foreigners are allowed inside claimed Gorokian space? Can the Gorokian Emperor be trusted? Why is Parker suddenly banished from the planet he has made his new home? What is the unknown danger he was warned about? Who is the mysterious map seller?
