A volume in the Earthbound Series
Volume IV of the Earthbound Series: Nykkyo, now a widower living with Suki's mom and her son, carries an incredible secret about her death. As New York recovers from the 9/11 attack, there is an outbreak of a fatal virus on Earth and one of his Floran co-workers dies. Nyk thinks the virus is of alien origin -- a biological weapon created by a faction on a rogue colony. He teams up with his ex-wife in a race against time to develop a cure before the separatists can unleash their plague.

So long as there are men and women alive, in a livable environment, then a new beginning is possible.

Lenox, the Earl of Redgrave, has made the greatest scientific discovery in the history of the world: a flying ship with the power to break free of Earth's gravity and take to the stars. But before he uses it to expand humanity's understanding of the universe, he has some personal business to attend to-namely, wooing an old flame.

Neal ("Storm") Cloud, nucleonic genius, set out in his spaceship *Vortex Blaster* to track and destroy the vortices. What he finds extends far beyond any threat of nature.

MARS Earth's first colony in Space. Men killed for the coveted ticket that allowed them to go there. And, once there, the killing went on... MARS Ralph Graham's goal since boyhood--and he was Mars-bound with authority that put the whole planet in his pocket--if he could live long enough to assert it! MARS source of incalculable wealth for humanity--and deadly danger for those who tried to get it!

Naturally, the superior race should win. but superior by which standards. and whose?

With no more room left on Earth, and with Mars hanging up there empty of life, somebody hit on the plan of starting a colony on the Red Planet. It meant changing the habits and physical structure of the immigrants, but that worked out fine. In fact, every possible factor was covered--except one of the flaws of human nature....

Many men have dreamed of world peace, but none have been able to achieve it. If one man did have that power, could mankind afford to pay the price?

When you have an engine with no fuel, and fuel without an engine, and a life-and-death deadline to meet, you have a problem indeed. Unless you are a stubborn Dutchman--and Jan Van Artevelde was the stubbornest Dutchman on Venus.

All space was electrified as that harsh challenge rang out. but John Endlich hesitated. For he saw beyond his own murder--saw the horror and destruction his death would unleash--and knew he dared not fight back!
