The Earthbound Series is a set of science-fiction novels set on two worlds: Planet Floran (or one of its colony planets) and Earth. Floran was colonized when a 23rd century interstellar mission from Earth aboard the starship Floran experienced a warp drive anomoly and was thrown off-course by 200 lightyears and 5,000 years in the past. The one thousand crew located a hospitable planet and formed a colony which, over five millenia, grew into a thriving galactic hegemony that enjoys interstellar travel. However, their people dare not reveal their existence to present-day Earth out of fear of disrupting the timeline leading to their formation, at least until after the Floran mision is launched 200 years in the future. They do, however, need contact with Earth to gather plant material to support their agriculture, so they send specially trained ExoAgents covertly to Earth for that purpose.
Nykkyo Kyhana is an ordinary guy: He has a boss, a job that's a grind, a wife who doesn't understand him and a high-maintenance girlfriend on the side. He just happens to hail from another planet -- one 200 lightyears from Earth and with a history that's inextricably entwined with Earth's future. He is sent to Earth to gather plants for his homeworld's agriculture. That mission becomes far from mundane when he meets a woman and realizes his civilization's survival may hinge on her fate.
Volume 2 of the Earthbound Series: Nykkyo adjusts to life on his adopted world and living with Sukiko. Meanwhile, authorities on his homeworld begin to question the actions of his friend Andra. They believe she is aiding Lexal, a rogue colony, prepare an invasion force. Nyk is asked to travel to Lexal and bring Andra to justice. Arriving on Lexal Nyk discovers things are not as they seem, and he finds himself in the midst of a civil war. He and Andra must run for their lives.
